Ana Tijoux is the Chilean rapper who just reached the Gold Award in Italy for "1977", she is admired by Lorenzo Jovanotti and Thom Yorke (Radiohead). She has a synch with the cult TV series Breaking Bad and two nominations to Grammy and Latin Grammy.
Born in France from Chilean parents escaped from the dictator of Pinochet, Ana grows up in Europe and comes back, as a teenager, in Chile. She always unites her voice to political and social fights.
Her second single is "Shock", inspired to Chilean student protests; homage in defence of students rights for free education. Ana is against privatisations and takes the cue from the book by Naomi Klein (who directly wrote Ana, thanking her for the song).
The video has been shot in the occupied high schools of Santiago, Ana herself, together with some friends and with her camera, shoots the images and lines up with the students, among teargas. Ana sees the world from her perspective of mother, musician and citizen, and she tells about it with rage, looking for justice and changes. It's the magic of musical creation. Every creation must be revolutionary. That's Ana's word.
